Planning for the 2008 National Rally continues as we work on some great activities and events. Our very talented Ruth Anne Starnes is currently working on the design for our Rally shirts. We have chosen a forest green long sleeved shirt. The design will consist of a bison and the famous Mt. Rushmore monument.

This year, we are introducing a little competitive spirit amoung the Chapters by holding a Chili Cook off. So, get out your caldrons, decorative chili bowls, your favorite recipes and all the fixings and bring them with you when you come to the Black Hills,The Beiler's farm visited in 2007 during the New Holland Rally Each chapter should provide sufficient chili for your group. There will be a $25 prize for the best decorated table and most entertaining chapter. Ice Cream, movie and popcorn will follow. Other activities will include the Buffalo Roundup at the beautiful Custer State Park. The event attracts more than 11,000 people. The event also gains attention around the globe. Foreign correspondents cover the story for their readers back home and a satellite beams the roundup live to other continents. Out timing couldn't be better to attend such a spectacular event. When we leave, we will go to the Crazy Horse monument via the needles. The scenic highways through the Black Hills have cathedral spires, great rock formations, and lush valleys; the aspens shoulJune 24, 2008tunnels, look back, each tunnel is positined to view the faces on Mt. Rushmore. Our next stop will be Crazy Horse. Here you will find The Beiler's fruit stand, visited during the 2007 New Holland Rallyhistory in the making. The first blast was in June 1948. The dedication blast took off just 10 tons. Millions of tons have been removed since. Work is now underway blocking out the 22-story high horse's head. The face of Crazy Horse has been completed, and the memorial is huge. Take your time going through the historical museum and enjoy learning about the native culture, This is a great visitor's center dedicated to all Indian cultures. As we leave Crazy Horse we will head for Mt. Rushmore. Begin your Mt. Rushmore experience at the Amphitheater for an up-close view of this spectacular sight. The new Grandview Terrace is a comfortable, inviting spot to take in the mountain's full majesty and power. Follow the Presidential Trail from the base of the mountain and you'll nearly be face-to-face with Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln.
